The Monthly Demand Charge billing component is a base rate charge, applied per kilowatt of peak electricity demand during the billing period for Demand Rate customers, by rate class.
For customers on Demand Rates, the Monthly Demand Charge provides for the costs of CUC’s base generation infrastructure, by rate class.
