The monthly Energy Charge billing component is a base rate charge, applied per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumption.
For customers not on Demand Rates, the energy charge provides for the costs of CUC’s generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure and operation, by rate class.
For customers on Demand Rates, the energy charge provides for the costs of CUC’s generation, transmission and distribution operation, by rate class, whereas the Demand Rate billing components provide for infrastructure-related costs.
